Novatel Wireless Develops 3G Cellular Upgrade Solution for Icontrol One Dealers

Partnership Reflects Icontrol One Commitment to Quality Home Automation Solutions Specifically Tailored for Independent Dealers.

Today Icontrol Networks, the company behind the most widely distributed interactive security and home automation platform in the industry, announced a partnership with Novatel Wireless, Inc., a leading provider of wireless solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT).
Through this collaboration, Novatel Wireless enables Icontrol One dealers to integrate MiFi® Secure, a 3G cellular upgrade communication board, with the Icontrol One interactive security solution. This unique offering provides independent security dealers a simple solution to migrate existing 2G cellular network dependent alarm panels to 3G in addition to offering Wi-Fi and Z-Wave capabilities for home automation services.

Security service providers will need to upgrade more than four million customers nationwide from 2G to 3G before 2017. The MiFi Secure solution offers Icontrol One dealers the ability to upgrade their customers to 3G cellular networks and enable a simplified solution for home automation at the same time, all for less cost than many traditional standalone upgrade options.

“The future of IoT is about accessing all technologies all the time and to deliver future proof solutions to customers that enable that scenario,” said Bob Hagerty, CEO of Icontrol Networks. “Through our partnership with Novatel Wireless, Icontrol One dealers can offer their customers the innovative MiFi technology that does just that.”

“The dealers now have a 2-in-1 future proof solution that integrates Z-Wave, Wi-Fi and 3G with award-winning MiFi technology, for less than many solutions that offer just 3G.”

The MiFi Secure product line offers easy to install home security and automation solutions that enable wireless home control using cellular, Wi-Fi and Z-Wave technologies. The products communicate with smart devices and appliances over local wireless communications such as Z-Wave and Wi-Fi networks, and provide communication to control systems over cellular 3G networks. The MiFi Secure products include an optional external antenna and over-the-air provisioning and remote firmware upgrade capabilities that reduce the overhead of costly on-site visits, as well as lengthy waiting times for scheduling of service providers.

“The Icontrol partnership is exciting for us, as it further demonstrates our commitment to advancing the IoT,” said Slim Souissi, president and COO of Novatel Wireless.
“We are bringing together best-in-class hardware and RF capabilities with the most widely distributed home automation and security management solution, resulting in an innovative, future proof product offering for security dealers who had no access to this type of service in the past.”
