Looking for a smart grid project in Europe? – then checkout the new interactive map providing the most up to date information on over 200 projects under way in member states and at European level.
The map is based on information collected by the EC’s in-house science service, the Joint Research Centre (JRC), when it was compiling a project inventory earlier this year.
“Initiatives on smart grids have been growing in number and scope throughout Europe for the past few years. To further support the transition to the intelligent power system of tomorrow, (we) have developed this online knowledge-sharing platform to provide public information on smart grids projects,”say the JRC and EURELECTRIC, which have collaborated on its preparation.
Promising to continuously update and develop the map, the organizations add: “We hope that this website will provide a useful tool to share and pool the research, technological development and demonstration results of the different smart grids projects that exist throughout Europe.”
The JRC’s smart grid project inventory is a first of its kind to collate such a breadth of information and as such, is likely to serve as a model for other jurisdictions to follow.
