Deutsche Telekom and Wavefront Collaborate to Boost M2M Market in North America

Deutsche Telekom and Wavefront, Canada’s Centre of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization and Research, today announced a long-term agreement to collaborate in developing the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market in North America.

As part of the collaboration, Wavefront supports Canadian wireless start-ups and small and medium companies with its accelerator program providing access to services including educational seminars, testing resources, advisory services and global market connections, while Deutsche Telekom provides access to its extensive M2M resources and proactively engages with the wireless community.

Wavefront has recently established a successful M2M Zone at its facilities in Vancouver, which has seen tremendous interest from the North American wireless community. Starting February 2013, Deutsche Telekom will be present there to provide a physical point of contact and access to its M2M solutions and resources such as the M2M Partner Portal and M2M Developer Community and to showcase some of its solutions. A series of seminars and events across the country will also offer companies an opportunity to connect with a global leader in M2M.

The North American market has a tremendous market potential with an estimated total revenue of 140 billion euro in 2017, up from 58 billion euro in 2013, according to market analysis firm Machina Research.

Wavefront President and CEO James Maynard concurs:
M2M is one of the fastest growing areas in the global wireless ecosystem. This partnership will facilitate a valuable new connection point between Canada’s wireless talent and Deutsche Telekom’s extensive technical knowledge, commercial capabilities and international reach.

Jürgen Hase, Head of Deutsche Telekom’s M2M Competence Center, says:

“In the future we will see an M2M solution for nearly every need just like today we have an app for every purpose. To accelerate the development in this market we have to tap into and promote the creative potential of small companies and start-ups now.”

The new relationship with Wavefront will help Deutsche Telekom gain access to the M2M community in North America and support business development in this important region.
