Distrix Strengthens Network Security for IoT/M2M With New Release

Platform to be Showcased at the M2M/IoT Expo in Las Vegas Aug 11-14, 2014.

Distrix (formerly Spark Integration Technologies), a leading developer of highly secure and resilient network communication solutions today announced version 4.2 of its flagship Distrix Network Virtualization Platform. The Distrix platform introduces new features that enable network managers to secure their deployments for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This release extends Distrix’ unique security philosophy to deliver VPN capability at any layer of the OSI stack for branch-to-datacenter and branch-to-branch connectivity. The security envelope is easily extended so organizations can integrate legacy protocols and devices onto a common network infrastructure alongside new IIoT devices.

In addition, this release adds new flexibility to the Distrix edge-based policy engine. Security and packet processing policies can now be customized at the network edge using a standard and open scripting language. When deploying Distrix either as an embedded application or a standalone gateway, this capability provides organizations the ability to easily normalize data, scale bandwidth and add new levels of security for their IIoT devices and Big Data applications.

Other enhancements in this release further simplify and automate centralized network management. A new topology display provides a complete graphical view of the entire Distrix overlay network. Through the GUI or RESTful API an expanded set of detailed operating metrics of the network can now be accessed to further automate the management of the network.

Jay Friedman, President of Distrix, said:

“Almost daily we hear about breaches of network security. This latest release continues to extend Distrix’ security model to deal with cyber security threats from outside and inside enterprise networks by enabling organizations to fully segregate and isolate application traffic.”

“Organizations can easily extend this level of security to manage the addition of IIoT devices to their networks in order to realize the true benefits of M2M communications.”
