Numerex Awarded Multi-Year Offender Monitoring Contract For The City of Charlotte

Company Will Be the Exclusive Provider to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for Omnilink Solution.

Numerex Corp, a leading provider of enterprise solutions enabling the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced the renewal of a multi-year contract with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department through the City of Charlotte, N.C.

The contract agreement will provide Numerex’s state of the art offender monitoring and tracking solution, Omnilink, to enable real-time visibility of offenders who are under a court order to be tracked and monitored electronically. The contract renewal provides up to five years of offender tracking services with an approximate value of $2 million.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) jurisdiction covers an area of 438 square miles with a population of nearly 1,000,000 citizens and is the largest police department between Washington D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia. CMPD implemented their first electronic monitoring program in 2007 and currently monitors over 400 offenders at any given time, with the capacity to expand to up to 1,500 offenders. CMPD requires an electronic monitoring system that provides pre-trial and post-conviction supervision of court ordered adult and juvenile offenders for property and person crimes.

The department also has a progressive domestic violence supervision program which supervises high-risk domestic violence offenders. Utilizing the advanced capabilities of the Omnilink Solution, the CMPD program is so proactive that it’s actually used as a crime deterrent as well as a crime solving tool. This goes far beyond simply monitoring an offenders’ whereabouts, and sets a high standard for best practices by police departments that use electronic offender monitoring technology.

The City of Charlotte noted:

“We are pleased to announce a new contract for electronic monitoring services to Omnilink Systems. The contract is now available to all public agencies, school districts, and higher education institutions in the United States of America, and other government agencies and non-profit organizations through Charlotte Cooperative Purchasing Alliance (CCPA).”

Numerex Chief Operating Officer, Kelly Gay, commented: “Numerex is honored to again be considered the exclusive provider of electronic monitoring solutions for the City of Charlotte. We have a unique, longstanding relationship with Charlotte and CMPD. Our robust solutions, combined with unparalleled customer service, were among the primary reasons CPMD chose Numerex as their electronic monitoring partner.”
