MWC2018: Quectel Partners with STMicroelectronics to Simplify Cellular-to-Cloud Connection

Quectel Wireless Solutions, the leading global supplier of wireless modules, is partnering with STMicroelectronics to simplify connections of IoT devices to Cloud services over 2G/3G or LTE Cat M1/NB1 networks by integrating Quectel modules into two STM32 Discovery packs.

Each pack contains an STM32L496 Discovery board and STMod+ Cellular expansion board featuring a Quectel cellular module, and will enable turnkey and out of the box cellular-to-cloud connection.

Of the two pack configurations, the P-L496G-CELL01 kit has a Quectel UG96 module for connecting to current worldwide 2G/3G networks, while the P-L496G-CELL02 supports the emerging LTE Cat M1/NB1 standards, with 2G fallback by using Quectel BG96 module.

“We are pleased to work with STMicroelectronics to accelerate customers’ IoT deployment. As more smart devices are flooding the market, it is imperative for developers to bring their IoT products to the market quicker and easier,” said Dominikus Hierl, Quectel’s Senior VP EMEA.

“Our wireless modules, together with the ST32 Discovery board, will lower the threshold for those who intend to transform their businesses through IoT solutions.”

The STM32 Discovery Packs, ready to use in hardware, are designed to allow mass-market developers to quickly start running and customizing sample scripts on the JavaScript engine with no additional investment.

In addition, the kits come with access to a rich selection of Cloud services from leading partners, who offer users the opportunity to try any of the associated partner services for creating, testing, deploying and managing their devices and data with free of charge.

Quectel is scheduled to demonstrate BG96 and UG96 modules as well as LTE, LTE-A, NB-IoT solutions during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1 at Hall 5, Stand 5H11
