RemoteAware delivers intuitive IoT applications for Sierra Wireless Octave all-in-one edge-to-cloud solution.
New Boundary Technologies, a leading provider of innovative Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications, and Sierra Wireless, the leading IoT solutions provider that combines devices, network services and software to unlock value in the connected economy, today announced a collaboration to simplify the development and deployment of IoT applications for industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors and IoT solution providers.
New Boundary Technologies’ RemoteAware™ IoT Application Service now integrates with Octave™, Sierra Wireless’ all-in-one edge-to-cloud solution for connecting industrial assets to the cloud. By combining Octave and RemoteAware, complete end-to-end enterprise IoT solutions can be delivered in a matter of days for a broad range of remote monitoring and control applications.
Creating and deploying IoT solutions can be a laborious, costly process. Programming IoT edge devices to collect and send sensor readings to the cloud typically takes months and requires highly skilled, embedded device developers. Once IoT sensor data gets to the cloud, developing secure and scalable enterprise-class IoT web applications typically requires additional months and a team of programmers and database engineers.
The New Boundary Technologies RemoteAware IoT Application Service eliminates the need to employ software engineers in house. RemoteAware provides secure, private-label branded IoT web applications to monitor and control remote sensors and equipment in one day. RemoteAware also provides hardware-independent, single pane-of-glass web dashboards customized to customers’ wants and needs. Octave makes it easy to develop, deploy and manage the software on IoT edge devices in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost of creating IoT applications in house. In fact, Forrester Research recently reported that the Octave platform reduces project costs by an average of 42% and reduces time to margin by nine months.
Octave and RemoteAware support off-the-shelf programmable gateways, including the Sierra Wireless FX30 cellular IoT gateway, and custom-built embedded edge devices created using the mangOH® open source hardware platform. Applications abound in water and energy, agriculture, oil and gas, smart city, and industrial automation.
A complete customer-ready sensor monitoring application with the Sierra Wireless FX30 was created in less than four hours using Octave and RemoteAware. Customers can also use RemoteAware and Octave to quickly create IoT applications to manage devices remotely with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
New Boundary Technologies CEO Kim Pearson, said:
“Our RemoteAware IoT Application Service provides private-label enterprise IoT web applications in one day without programming. Sierra Wireless Octave eliminates the time and complexity required to get data from edge devices to the cloud.”
“Together, Octave and RemoteAware enable customers to quickly reap the business benefits of cloud-connected connected devices without the complexity and expense typical of enterprise IoT solutions.”
“Together with RemoteAware we’re able to eliminate the complexities of implementing and scaling IoT solutions for our customers,” said Olivier Pauzet, vice president and general manager of IoT solutions at Sierra Wireless. “This allows our customers to focus on building their business rather than creating technical infrastructure, which often results in months of development.”
