Sprint and HealthSpot to Deliver the Reality of Virtual Healthcare

Wireless connectivity via M2M technology powers new virtual clinic, delivering healthcare when and where patients need it

Sprint (NYSE: S) today announced a new agreement with HealthSpot, Inc. to embed wireless connectivity for the HealthSpot Care4 Station. Together Sprint and HealthSpot will deliver a true integration of telemedicine and primary care, allowing patients access to high-quality, convenient and affordable medical care in the community or workplace.

Sprint and HealthSpot to Deliver the Reality of Virtual HealthcareThe HealthSpot Care4 Station is a fully enclosed kiosk that delivers primary and specialty care in private settings such as pharmacies, supermarkets and workplaces. The Care4 Station increases convenient care options like extended hours and physician availability while also bringing healthcare access to remote and underserved populations. The private medical kiosk connects patients to doctors over real-time, high-definition videoconferences with wireless technology. Digital medical devices integrated into the unit allow doctors to collect vital health information. Patient information, video, prescriptions, appointment scheduling and visit records can be transmitted securely over the Sprint 4G network.

Sprint is focused on providing enabling technologies to empower caregivers and organizations seeking on-site wellness solutions, thus driving the transformation to a more consumer-driven system and bridging the gap as healthcare evolves to a more virtual model,” said Wayne Ward, vice president – Emerging Solutions Group, Sprint.

“Working with innovative companies such as HealthSpot to enable the potential of M2M (machine-to-machine) technology to improve patient wellness and physician efficiency in an on-demand setting is just one example of how connected solutions are changing the way we work and live.”

Todd Churchill, chief technology officer of HealthSpot, said:
