Quectel Wireless Solutions, announced that its BG96 module has achieved technical compatibility certificate with the wireless network of TELUS, a leading global telecommunications service provider in Canada.
Based on Qualcomm’s MDM9206 modem, BG96 is global multimode Cat M1/NB-IoT/ EGPRS module with integrated GNSS, offering a maximum data rate of 375Kbps downlink and 375Kbps uplink, fully compliant with 3GPP R13 of LTE Cat M1 and Cat NB1 specifications.
Thanks for proven success stories in different IoT verticals, BG96 is ideal for a wide range of applications such as Smart Metering, Asset Tracking, AVL, Health and Vending Machines. It features ultra-low power consumption and provides pin-to-pin compatibility with Quectel LTE modules EG91/EG95, Cat NB1 (NB-IoT) module BC95, UMTS/HSPA modules UG95/UG96 and GSM/GPRS module M95. BG96 is backward-compatible with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks, ensuring it can connect even in remote areas devoid of LTE coverage.
“Earning TELUS certification is a significant yet solid step forward for Quectel to swiftly penetrate into North America dynamic and competitive market,” said Delbert Sun, Quectel’s Product and Marketing Director.
“The IoT is transforming business by connecting devices to one another in order to streamline business operations in every industry sector. IoT taught us that the only constant is change and BG96 can be a game changer in IoT marketplace.”
