OnAsset Intelligence Leverages “Borderless” Solution to Automate Least-Cost Transmission for Wireless Asset Tracking Application

RACO Wireless, today announced that OnAsset Intelligence has successfully deployed their industry-leading asset tracking solution internationally using the embedded multi-mode international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) SIM developed by RACO Wireless in collaboration with mobile security solution provider Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), and T-Mobile USA, and Everything Everywhere Limited.

Historically, M2M providers looking to expand their solution globally have had two options – redesign and redeploy their application for use in a specific country or region or allow the application to roam internationally. However, those providers selecting the latter option have had little visibility into and control over which global networks were used or the transmission costs associated with roaming in different countries, creating an opportunity that is ripe for excessive costs.

The multi-mode IMSI SIM from RACO Wireless enables M2M providers to keep just one global stock-keeping unit (SKU). In participating regions of the world, the SIM is smart enough to automatically select the least expensive transmission rates possible, resulting in significant savings. For OnAsset, whose wireless SENTRY FlightSafe® and ContainerSafe® products help global shipping companies track and monitor the location and condition of high-value cargo, this means significant savings on a monthly basis.

More and more, our M2M partners are looking to expand their application beyond the U.S.; however, the lack of visibility into and control over transmission costs where the device is located at any given time has been a risk factor,” said John Horn, president of RACO Wireless.

“With our embedded multi-IMSI SIM device, M2M applications can be easily and cost-effectively deployed globally without any compromises. Bottom line, this saves enterprises a lot of money and a lot of headaches in finding the least-expensive way for devices to communicate information and data.”

RACO Wireless Helps M2M ‘Go Global’ Cost-Effectively with Embedded Multi-Mode IMSI SIMThe SENTRY FlightSafe device is the first wireless device approved for use on commercial aircraft, and on any given day, the product could land in any area of the world, but we weren’t able to self-select which network the device was roaming on, causing us operational headaches and wireless bills larger than we were comfortable with,” said Adam Crossno, president and CEO of OnAsset. “The embedded multi-mode IMSI SIM has been a tremendous relief.”

Increasingly, we must look to provide our customers with cost-effective and easy-to-use solutions that meet their global design requirements, not just the specifications for U.S. deployment,” said Jeremy Korst, vice president, marketing at T-Mobile USA. “With the multi-IMSI SIM solution, enterprises can reduce the time and cost for international redesign and global distribution of their telematics, mobile health, asset tracking or fleet management application.”

This strategic partnership with RACO Wireless allows Everything Everywhere to offer our M2M customers device connectivity in the U.K. and soon, Europe, with just one SIM, at local roaming rates,” said Marc Overton, VP of Wholesale & M2M, Everything Everywhere. “We know that roaming costs are a concern for international players, and Everything Everywhere’s multi-IMSI capability means our customers can take their business cross border without the need to negotiate multiple roaming contracts to keep costs down – simplifying the whole business of staying connected around the world.”

G&D recognizes the challenging logistic and cost objectives in the M2M market and is working with mobile network operators and M2M service providers to provide an operator-centric, standards-driven solution for the provisioning of M2M services with our AirOn product line,” said Michael Kuemmerle, member of the Management Board and Group Executive of Mobile Security at Giesecke & Devrient. “With AirOn, we serve as the trusted provider for credentials management with a solution that allows the operator to offer service flexibility to their customer base and facilitates global distribution of a single product. We’re making it easier for mobile network operators to meet their customers’ needs in this emerging market.”
