Aeris® Teams with Badger Meter to Deploy Smart Water Meters in New Mexico

Two industry leaders team up to help Santa Fe take better control of water metering, benefiting both the city and consumers.

Aeris, the Made for Machines™ technology and service provider, today announced it is partnering with Badger Meter, a leading global innovator and manufacturer of flow measurement and control solutions, to provide cellular connectivity for a deployment of 34,000 smart water meters for the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Badger Meter was recently awarded a 10-year contract to deploy a BEACON® AMA managed solution, including 34,000 ORION® cellular endpoints. This managed solution will allow meters to be read remotely, providing more accurate readings, and proactive information to help the city identify potential leaks and to understand what is happening in their water system. In addition, water customers will have more control of their water usage through EyeOnWater, a Badger Meter consumer portal and smartphone and tablet app giving end-users the opportunity to see how their water is being used.

Leveraging Aeris’ machine-optimized and patented AerCore™ M2M network and AerPort™ connectivity platform, Badger Meter is able to provide the Santa Fe Public Utilities Department unparalleled flexibility, industry leading reliability, and a cost-effective way to communicate and manage its water meters remotely, without having to leave the office.

“We have always been committed to providing the best products, support and services for our customers, and found that by partnering with Aeris, we have the ability to offer the City of Santa Fe a reliable and cost-effective solution,” said John Fillinger, director of marketing at Badger Meter. “Aeris exceeded our stringent requirements to ensure our customers have a reliable, scalable connection to our meters deployed in the field.”

“Cities like Santa Fe have long embraced the notion of smarter remote monitoring, but are taxed to do more with dwindling resources,” said Janet Jaiswal, vice president of enterprise marketing at Aeris. “We are excited to be working with a strong, committed company like Badger Meter. With this partnership, the City of Santa Fe has two well-established industry leaders providing a smart and sensible solution that addresses their unique needs, while providing more value to customers.”
